Part-time finance leadership. A CPA-led CFO builds your forecast, runs a 13-week cash plan, sets prices from real margins, and prepares the reporting your board and lenders read.
For companies past the bookkeeping stage. Miami companies with investors, lenders, or growth plans that need a finance function before they can justify a full-time CFO.
Priced as a monthly scope. A flat monthly fee set by the work, with more time scheduled around a raise, a refinancing, or an acquisition.
Corviniti provides fractional CFO services to companies in Miami and across South Florida from our office in downtown Miami. A fractional CFO does the work of a chief financial officer part-time: the forecast, the cash plan, pricing and margin analysis, fundraising and lender support, and the reporting a board relies on. A CPA leads every engagement, and our team works in English and Spanish.
Miami companies borrow from banks, from SBA lenders, and through Certified Development Companies, and raise equity from private equity, venture capital, and family office investors. Each source asks for its own materials, and each one tests the model behind them.
This page sits under Corviniti Accounting in Miami, our office in downtown Miami. That page covers Florida tax for South Florida businesses and for people who move to Florida, and links to the rest of our Florida coverage.
Cash flow
Cash planning for a seasonal Miami business
We build the plan from your own monthly figures for prior years, find the month cash is lowest, size a line of credit to that month, and update a 13-week cash flow each week through the slow season. Sales tax is paid the month after each filing period, reemployment tax after each quarter, and property tax in November, when paying earns a 4 percent discount. The chart follows an illustrative winter-season business through a year of month-end cash.

The Detail
The gaps, and how we close each one
Service 01
The forecast and the 13-week cash plan
A company can be profitable on paper and still run out of cash. Accrual profit does not show the week payroll clears, and a monthly view hides the days when the balance is lowest.
How we handle it
We build two connected models. The first is a rolling forecast tied to the drivers of your business, so a change in volume, price, or headcount carries through to profit and to cash. The second is a 13-week cash flow that starts from the actual bank balance. It times collections by when customers actually pay, and places each outflow on its date: payroll, rent, debt service, sales tax remittances, and the quarterly reemployment tax. The result shows the lowest weekly balance and the week it falls below zero, with enough notice to draw on a line of credit, collect specific invoices, or move a hire to a week that can carry it.
What you get: A rolling forecast and a 13-week cash model that shows a shortfall in advance.
Service 02
Pricing and margin by product, customer, or job
A healthy average margin can include a product, a customer, or a type of job that loses money every time. Owners often suspect which one it is and cannot show it, so the pricing stays the same.
How we handle it
We calculate margin at the level the business is managed: per job for a contractor, per client for a services firm, per product line for a seller, and per location or provider for a practice. Only costs that follow the unit are assigned to it, because spreading overhead evenly makes every unit look average. The analysis looks for change orders that were never billed, a largest customer who is not the most profitable, one line of business covering the losses of another, and fixed capacity sitting idle. We then reprice the work, renegotiate terms, or move capacity, and rebuild the pricing model so new work is quoted from real costs.
What you get: Margin by product, client, or location, and the pricing decisions that follow.
Service 03
Fundraising, lenders, and Miami's sources of capital
A lender or an investor asks for a specific package of materials. A company that cannot produce it on request looks like a risk, whatever the underlying business is worth.
How we handle it
Miami companies draw on three kinds of capital. Debt comes from community and national banks, SBA 7(a) loans made through SBA lenders, and SBA 504 loans made through Certified Development Companies with a bank. Each lender expects financial statements, tax returns, and projections that agree with each other. Public programs include advice from the Florida Small Business Development Center Network and the county's economic development programs. Equity comes from private equity, venture capital, and family office investors, who expect diligence-grade books and a model that holds up to questions. We build the model and the materials, answer the diligence requests, and join the meetings. The same practice supports venture-backed and public companies through raises and transactions.
What you get: The model, the materials, and the diligence answers for each source of capital.

Companies with operations or owners outside the United States
A Miami company that sells into Latin America, buys from suppliers abroad, or has owners outside the country needs a cash plan and reporting that handle more than one currency and more than one legal entity.
How we handle it
We forecast cash by currency and by entity, so a strong dollar month or a delayed transfer from a related company shows up in the plan before it shows up in the bank. Payments between related companies are documented and priced on terms that can be supported, because the IRS reviews them. The reporting consolidates the entities so the owners see one set of numbers, and the U.S. company's books keep the records its federal information returns require. Where the owners need their own tax advice in another country, we work with their advisers there.
What you get: Cash and reporting across currencies and entities, in one set of numbers.
Service 05
Board, investor, and lender reporting
Once a company has an outside investor or a lender, it owes them reporting. A late or inconsistent package costs more credibility than a weak month does.
How we handle it
We build the monthly or quarterly package your readers use: the measures that matter for your business, results against plan with a plain explanation of what changed, the cash position and runway, and the covenant calculations a lender will check. It arrives on the same schedule every period. Where there are loan covenants we track them every month, so a covenant problem is raised with the lender early.
What you get: A board and lender package on a fixed schedule, with covenants tracked monthly.
Service 06
When a fractional CFO makes sense, and when it does not
Many companies do not need a CFO yet, and it is better to say so at the start.
How we handle it
A fractional CFO makes sense when the decisions are large enough that a mistake is expensive: a raise or a refinancing, prices you suspect are wrong, growth that uses cash faster than it produces profit, a board that needs proper reporting, or an owner who spends evenings in spreadsheets. It does not make sense if what you need is accurate books and a correct tax return, which is a bookkeeping and accounting engagement at a much lower cost. We will tell you which one you need. A CFO working from unreliable books produces confident answers from bad inputs.
What you get: A direct answer on whether you need a CFO yet, or better books first.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What does a fractional CFO cost in Miami?
A flat monthly fee, well below a full-time CFO's salary and benefits. The fee depends on whether you need a standing monthly schedule or a defined project, such as a raise, a refinancing, or a turnaround. We set the scope after one call and quote a specific number.
How is a fractional CFO different from our accountant?
The accountant makes sure the numbers are correct and the filings are made. The CFO uses those numbers to plan what to do next: pricing, hiring, financing, and the forecast behind each decision. We do both, so the CFO work starts from books we have already reconciled.
Can you help us raise capital or get a loan?
Yes. We build the model and the materials, prepare the answers to diligence requests, and join the meetings with banks, SBA lenders, and equity investors. The same practice supports venture-backed and public companies through raises and transactions.
How much of your time do we get?
Enough to complete the work in the scope on a set schedule: a standing monthly or biweekly working session, the reporting cycle, and time between sessions for decisions that come up. You are paying for a senior person's judgment on your company's specific questions.
Do you work in Spanish?
Yes. Our team works in English and Spanish, so owners, managers, and finance staff can work with us in whichever language they prefer.
Do you work with contractors and the trades?
Yes, in the CFO role. The numbers that run a contractor are backlog, gross margin per job, work in progress and over or under billings, and cash timing against progress payments and retainage. We build the job-level margin view and the cash forecast so you bid and staff off real numbers.
Do you work with medical and dental practices?
Yes, in the CFO role. The drivers are production per provider, the net collection rate against billed production, payer mix, and the economics of adding an operatory, a chair, or an associate. We model the expansion and the financing behind it.
Do you work with restaurants and cafes?
Yes, in the CFO role. Prime cost, food plus labor as a share of sales, is the number that decides a restaurant; we track it by location and period, model a new location or a menu change, and build the cash forecast around the slow season.
Do you work with e-commerce and retail businesses?
Yes, in the CFO role. The drivers are contribution margin after fees and shipping, customer acquisition cost against lifetime value, and inventory turns and the cash tied up in stock. We build the model that shows which channels and products actually fund the business.
Do you work with law firms and professional services?
Yes, in the CFO role. The drivers are realization and utilization, revenue per timekeeper, work in progress and collection speed, and the partner compensation math. We build the reporting a partner group depends on and the model behind a lateral hire or a new office.
Do you work with real estate investors and operators?
Yes, in the CFO role. The numbers are net operating income and cap rate per property, debt service coverage, and the cash and returns on an acquisition or a refinance. We build the model behind the deal and the reporting your lender and investors expect.
