Salo becomes FASB chair on July 1, 2027
On August 18, 2026 the Financial Accounting Foundation’s Board of Trustees appointed Hillary H. Salo as the next chair of the Financial Accounting Standards Board. Her term as chair runs from July 1, 2027 to June 30, 2034. She succeeds Richard R. Jones, whose term as chair concludes June 30, 2027. Salo currently serves as vice chair of the FASB and chair of the Emerging Issues Task Force. She joined the FASB as technical director in 2020, and before that was an audit partner at KPMG.
Nominations for two FASB member seats
The trustees also issued a call for nominations for two seats on the seven-member board, both with five-year terms beginning July 1, 2027 and eligibility for a second five-year term. One is the seat Salo leaves when she becomes chair. The other is held by Marsha L. Hunt, whose second term concludes June 30, 2027. Candidates may nominate themselves or others by sending a resume or CV to the search firm Spencer Stuart at FASB@spencerstuart.com by September 1, 2026.
